Happy New Year

Well, it’s that time again, we’re waving goodbye to another year. I hope 2008 proved to be one to be remembered by all. For me, it’s been all about watching my son grow another year older, having a few more stories published and of course, writing new things. I should be finished the first draft of my muse story, the sequel to Highland Muse, part of the Song of the Muses Anthology, by the end of January. After that it’s on to a novel that's connected to my Scottish trilogy.

To my readers and friends, may 2009 be filled with new beginnings and “happily ever after” endings.

I’d also like to say a special Happy New Year to those soldiers still overseas and all the families without their loved ones this holiday season, my heart goes out to you.

Happy New Year All,
Sky

Christmas Blog Ride-December 14th

Welcome everyone! If you haven’t been here before today you've stuck gold because this blog is part of a Christmas Ride that has been flying through cyberspace. For those of you that have been Ho Ho Ho- ing along, I hope you’ve had a blast thus far! Those of you just joining, hang on tight because the sleigh’s full and everyone is giving away some great prizes!

Christmas happens to be my favorite holiday of the year. With a small child underfoot I spent the first week of December decorating. I’m still in that bizarre transition where I have all my elegant decorations intact but they’ve started to blend with everything a three year old would find acceptable. You know what I mean…the big Mickey Mouse face ornament now hangs alongside my crystal reindeer. The expensive Scottish Santa (yes, I have a Scottish Santa, are you really that surprised?) now stands alongside Christmas SpongeBob Squarepants. But I’m loving every minute of it. If you’re a mom, you know what I mean.

Well, I’ve a few presents stashed away in my sleigh and feel like giving them away! The first is a copy of the Highland Bagpipes at Christmas. If you visited back in the Christmas in July event you’ll remember how much I loved this CD and it only made sense that I’d give away a copy now. For a chance to win this CD simply play the video below (Highland Bagpipes of course!) and tell me what song is playing in a comment.

My sleigh’s not empty yet. I have more to give away! For a chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate to The Wild Rose Press and a free download of the second book in my Scottish trilogy, Destiny’s Denial, I’d like to hear a Christmas memory. I shared my thoughts about having my son’s decorations blending with mine, this year is definitely a memory that will stay with me forever . What about you? Tell me in comment for a chance to win. It can be anything at all, a sentimental moment that made you remember a loved one or a humorous moment when the lights all blew out. It’s up to you!

So, quick recap, you have a chance to win a few things. If you want to try for all of them simply leave multiple comments!

And to spread more Christmas cheer, everyone hosting the CHRISTMAS RIDE came together and we’re giving one lucky person a $75 Wild Rose Press gift certificate! All you need to do to enter is attend each day's blog post, identify the carol, and make a complete carol list to submit after the final blog post of Christmas Eve. Don't forget to check the list twice! Send it to http://us.mc632.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=Christmasrideblog@live.com by midnight, CST Dec. 31st 2008!

Here’s a hint from my carol….

Peace on earth and mercy mild...God and sinners reconciled

Joyful all ye nations rise...Join the triumph of the skies

(Smile, snicker, I've made this quite easy for you my friends!)

Remember, the first blog connects to them all so scroll down two posts at this blog to begin the easy research that will lead you to a quick win!

Well, I hope you enjoyed visiting my blog today. The next stop on the CHRISTMAS RIDE (and it’s bound to be a blast!) is http://alishapaige.blogspot.com/. So pop on over tomorrow for a chance to win more great stuff!

Merry Christmas all!

Busy with the holidays!

Swinging in to say hello!

I've been pretty silent so far this month but December is super busy in my household.

We bought our tree today and it's all decorated, lights blazing blue. Me with blue Christmas lights, who would have thought? Wide grin.

When I haven't been busy with my family I've been working on my latest Song of the Muses story and really like how it's coming along. In fact, I'm halfway through it! With this one, think an old Victorian New England home, ghosts and a hero and heroine with more internal issues than any character has a right! She's Greek American, he's a Scot in denial...again, grin.

Anyway, I did create a book trailer for the story that I wrote before this one, Highland Muse. That tale leads into the one I'm writing now. If you want to check it out just click this link...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5pfw3KBAOQ

Also, while I have your attention, the CHRISTMAS RIDE arrives at this blog on Sunday, December 14th so if you have a second and want to pop in for a chance to win some great prizes, mark me on your calender now. I plan on giving away not only a Gift Certificate but some fantastic downloads!

I look forward to seeing you all soon. Until then, enjoy the holiday season!

Destiny's Denial is available in print

Great news!

Destiny's Denial, the second novel in my Scottish trilogy, is now available in print. This story is especially close to my heart so I'm beyond pleased.

Interested in watching a book trailer? Click here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z143no4wwJQ

For any new readers popping in, here's a blurb:

Caitlin Seavey relives the same nightmare every night for three years. Then one day, the dream seeps into reality when an ethereal Scotsman visits. Horrified, she confides in her grandmother who then gives her a two hundred year old novel titled Fate's Monolith. It tells the tale of her distant relative's journey to medieval Scotland and can only be a myth. When Caitlin discovers a family heirloom in the attic she soon learns the book is based on truth.

Chieftain Ferchar Mac'Lomain found what he was looking for. Caitlin. He should have left her alone. For to bring her to Cowal will spell disaster-a foreseen threat to himself, his clan, and Caitlin. As a visionary, it's his obligation to protect her. As a man, he's determined to ignore his heart. Can he thwart his destiny? Or will he forever be a slave to the gods of old.

And, of course, an excerpt!

“I didn’t realize I was doing anything to your men or otherwise.” She took a step back as he took a step forward.

“Unlikely,” he replied.

“Why do you doubt me? You don’t know me.” He had her backed up another step.

“I know enough about you just by watching your actions.”

Both his tone and his assumption annoyed her. Blast his ice blue eyes. She wanted to look away but that would be giving in. “And I you.”

“It’s unwise to compare us.” He almost had her against the wall between the room of claymores and battle-axes. “But if I were to humor you, what do you mean by that?”

Ah, she had gained ground. “Just that my appreciation for the male species is obviously equivalent to yours for the female.”

One corner of his lip pulled up and his eyes flickered over her face until they landed on her lips. “You could only be referring to Emma.”

Caitlin willed the fire from her face even as it flooded in. She was as transparent as a newly cleaned window. “I’m referring to the fact that I have as much right to entertain a man as you do a woman.”

His hands fell to the wall on either side of her head and Caitlin’s breath switched pace. What was he doing? She could duck beneath his arm and escape but would again give him the upper hand. His leaned so close she could make out the little flecks of silver caught in his eyes.

“Our situations are very different,” he whispered.

His luscious mouth was within inches of hers and the nearness of his heat began melting the muscles so crucial to holding her legs up. She suddenly rethought things. It’d be best to move away from him. Caitlin sprung into action and dipped to move under his arm.

Too late, the skin on their arms touched.

That was all it took.

Halloween Blog Bash!

HAUNTED BLOG!

Welcome, I wish you a very spooky All Hallow’s Eve! I’m part of a super Halloween Blog bash contest that runs all day, Friday, October 31’st.

I debated long and hard about what to cover as a topic for this post. Fate’s Monolith takes place on October 31, 1799, so should I have covered New Hampshire’s hauntings? Destiny’s Denial has a ghost in it, so should I have covered haunted Scottish Castles? You see where I’m going with this. In the end I decided to announce that my vampire story, Darkest Memory, will indeed be published and naturally, to celebrate, will devote my post to Vampires! Evil grin, after all, when one travels to the dark side, what better creatures are there than the vamps?

Instead of going into the myths and legends of the vampire, I’d really rather simply promote another author and all that her work has entailed. Yep, you heard me right! So a special 'shout out' to author Charlaine Harris and her Sookie Stackhouse books which are now featured in an HBO series called True Blood. Have you watched the True Blood series? Wow, if not, you should. It’s chock full of suspense, dynamic vampires, multiple storylines and…unbelievable sex! (Definitely Rated R Folks)

The premise of this series is that vampires ‘came out of the coffin’ two years prior and are living amongst humans. Suffice it to say, the setting is New Orleans (where else would it be? Smile) and prejudice against the vampires runs rampant. Of course, you have your vampire followers as well as vampire blood sold on the black market. (When taken by a human, it’s supposed to be beyond intense) The whole concept is wonderfully imaginative but holds tight to a feeling of realism. I mean, if you found out vampires existed and were suddenly part of society, what would you be thinking? What would you be doing? Would you be curious enough to hit a vampire bar? Or petrified at the mere concept?

Okay, this is how much I love this series and think it’s a worthwhile Halloween treat to promo. I’m offering one prize to one winner with a chance to improve that win if you want to go the extra mile! I will be printing the list of contestants without answers for one of my family members to randomly choose, so there is NO chance of a single answer contestant winning over a double answer contestant purposefully, promise. Fair’s fair. I just thought it’d be fun to up the jackpot!

For a chance to win a $5 dollar Gift Certificate to The Wild Rose Press watch the following trailer and tell me in a comment what Sookie, the girl with the blond ponytail (that can hear people’s thoughts) does for a living. Make sure you turn up your volume! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vd5E-pHzXGI

Okay, that was easy, huh? Now, for a chance to turn your $5 Gift Certificate into a $10 Gift Certificate to The Wild Rose Press tell me what part of Vampire Bill’s body, Sookie sucks blood from in the following video? . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6bh4ka3Roc

Well, I’ve had my vampire fix for today, I hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about True Blood and that your All Hallow’s Eve is loaded with chilling fun. Don’t forget to swing by the following blogs for more chances to win prizes!!!

I'm back, up for some Halloween fun?

I'm back from Aruba! I know I never mentioned I was heading there...hey, a girl has to have secrets, smile. My family and I had a super time. Regrettably, a tropical depression hit the island on Tuesday and Wednesday, but, well....one can weather anything when they're on vacation! Now I can officially report what it's like to drive through two feet of water....more scary than you'd think!

Anyway, the first frost hit here in New England when I got home and I can say that it's officially 'Halloween Time' here in New Hampshire. So, I'll just throw up a fun link for now. If you have a sec and want to strain your brain with your family click here....http://www.dedge.com/flash/halloween/

Talk to you all very soon, there will be alot going on soon!

Spotlight on Beth Caudill's Informally Yours

Back in July I hosted an author appreciation week. Since then, on occasion, I still like to devote posts to different romance authors that I believe deserve a little extra appreciation. Today’s post is dedicated to Beth Caudill, author of Dragon’s Mate.

Congratulations to Beth on the release of Informally Yours, available today through The Wild Rose Press!

Below I’ve listed the blurb for Informally Yours.

BLURB:

Everyday Melinda Jenson goes to work at Formally Yours, a high-end formal wear store, unaware the customers and owner are members of the local supernatural community. On Halloween night, Melinda's boss asks her to make a simple delivery. Unwilling to disappoint her niece and nephew, she arrives late and has an unexpected encounter with a wolf. Now she's chasing cute, furry forest creatures, and mated to a man she barely knows. "May you live in interesting times," just took on a whole new meaning.

WEAR PINK RIBBONS!

Hi Everyone,

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. If you did not arrive here via my website I’d like to tell you about a wonderful contest some fellow romance writers and I are hosting. It’s called the Breast Cancer Awareness Contest and begins on October 1st. We’ll be giving away romantic and inspiring gifts to winners. All you need to do to be in the running to win one of these prizes is visit each of the websites listed in the upper right hand corner of this blog and find the hostess’s WEAR PINK RIBBONS! Blog entry. Each hostess will discuss a topic of her choice—all dealing with breast cancer. Just note the topic and author on a list that you must e-mail to happyendings2007@aol.com by midnight CST October 31st.

My topic is listed below. Please take the time to read the article I’ve provided, it’s very important!

The following article was written by and can be found at http://www.imaginis.com/breasthealth/earlydetection.asp (I am not the author of this article)

Guidelines Women Should Follow for Early Detection of Breast Cancer

Early detection of breast cancer can lead to greater likelihood of cure. The American Cancer Society recommends the following guidelines for the detection of breast cancer in women who are asymptomatic (show no symptoms of breast cancer):

Women 20 years of age and older should women should be told about the benefits and limitations of breast self-exams (BSE). Women should be aware of how their breasts normally feel and report any new breast change to a health professional as soon as they are found. [Note: while the American Cancer Society recently amended its guidelines and no longer recommends monthly BSE, many healthcare professionals believe strongly in this easy, no cost method of screening for breast cancer and continue to recommend BSE on a monthly basis].

Women 20-39 should have a physical examination of the breast (CBE or clinical breast exam) at least every three years, performed by health care professional such as a physician, physician assistant, nurse or nurse practitioner. CBE may often be received in the same appointment as a Pap smear. Women 20-39 should also perform monthly BSE.

Women 40 and older should have a physical examination of the breast (CBE or clinical breast exam) every year, performed by a health care professional, such as a physician, physician assistant, nurse or nurse practitioner. CBE can often be performed in the same visit as a mammogram. Monthly BSE should also be performed.

Women 40 years of age should receive a screening mammogram every year. The National Cancer Institute recommends mammography every one to two years for women between 40-50 years of age. Beginning at age 50, screening mammography should be performed every year.

Women with a high risk of breast cancer and/or family history of breast cancer are encouraged to consult their doctor or other trained medical professional about receiving annual screening mammograms starting between the ages of 30 and 40.

Woman at a very high risk of breast cancer (such as those tested positive for the BRCA1 and BRCA2 breast cancer genes) should speak with their physician about beginning annual mammograms as early as age 25.

I would like to comment in addition to the information provided above a nurse was kind enough to swing by this blog and leave a comment. Only a physician is qualified to give a breast exam and it's a very good idea to get a breast exam yearly. My mom is a second time breast cancer survivor so I know that I will!

Everyday Life

I know, I haven't posted for a while, so sorry! I just finished writing a free read for my publisher. Right now the working title is Christmas Wish. It's a short read but I think that anyone that likes my work will enjoy it.

I spent the weekend at my parents with my son and wrapped up summer boating across the water I grew up on, Sunset Lake. The sun shone, the seagulls dove and it was a day unlike any other. Today, it was all about the New England Patriots. Yes, they lost, but I'm forever optimistic and look forward to next week's game.

I have big news...but I'm sitting on it until I know more. Wink, wink. Check back soon to learn more!

Thanks for swinging by and a special shout out to all of my friends down in Texas that weathered hurricane Ike. So glad it's over.

Hugs all,
Sky

Review of Hywela Lyn's Starquest

For those that have been to my blog before, especially during my Christmas in July Blog Event, you may remember that I spoke highly of author Hywela Lyn and her novel, Starquest. Well, the first review of this fantastic novel has arrived. Here it is!

Tribute to September 11, 2001

To my countrymen, I remind you what was taken from us seven years ago.

But we have superceded. No one can take that away from us.

This blog is dedicated to all the women, men and children that gave their lives on September 11, 2001. I will always remember you. God bless.

Patriots Fan!

Just popping in to wave Hello! Honestly, there's not too much going on in my neck of the woods save...well...football! The New England Patriots kicked off their season and we're down a quarterback from the get go...Brady, good luck with your surgery, you'll be missed more than you know! Cassel, I have faith in you.

Can you tell I'm a football fan?

I know, odd for a writer, but I am who I am! On the subject of writing I'm typing up a page for my website that explains why I wrote my Scottish Mac'Lomain trilogy and will throw up the link as soon as I have it. Until then, be happy and enjoy the rest of your week!

Destiny's Denial Reviewed Again!

Hi all!

A big 'Thank You!' to everyone that took the time to vote for me last weekend. I'm thrilled by the feedback I'm getting about Destiny's Denial and wanted to share the latest review with anyone popping by! I'll swing by again tomorrow and let you know how we're weathering up here in New Hampshire under Hurricane Hanna!

SRR GRADE: A

Destiny's Denial is the second book in Sky Purington's The Mac'Lomain Trilogy, the first one is Fate's Monolith and the third one coming soon is Sylvan's Mist. So far I have loved this series and I am anxiously awaiting the third tale.

Magic, dreams and rogue Highland Scots combine to make these stories much more than just time travel. With wizards and prophesies and two families seemingly forever bound Ms. Purington has woven quite an intricate trilogy.

Caitlin has been dreaming this same dream for three years. It always plays out the same way until the night it doesn’t. Suddenly she is in the arms of a glorious Scot, he can't be real, its just a dream, isn't it? Finally she gathers the strength to tell her grandmother who gives her an ancient book. What she reads there is unbelievable or is it?

Chieftain Ferchar Mac'Lomain doesn’t want "his destiny" he doesn't even want to be laird but yet he is and his destiny will come for him no matter what he wants. What he doesn't count on is falling for the feisty Caitlin and willingly change his life for her. Ferchar and Caitlin make a dynamic couple and when they get together the heat is palpable. But most of all I loved the inner strength that Caitlin, she handles things that would break most women and she pulls it off. Ferchar of course is sexy, gruff and tries to push her away but then he pulls her into his arms every opportunity he has -- can you say mixed messages?

There is so much packed into Destiny's Denial the story is gripping. I couldn't put it down until I finished the last page but don't take my word for it, you really need to read these books. If you have the slightest interest in time travel, Scotland or magic you will be pulled into this story hook, line and sinker.

Mars

Okay, today's all about the planet Mars. How could it be otherwise? After all, we're supposed to see something tonight no one will see again for over 60,000 years, that's huge! Myself, I love everything to do with outer space, it's always intrigued me.

Is it true about Mars tonight? No. The data is old apparently but for me it doesn't hurt to to pay attention. I know that they've discovered that Mars can maintain life, at least a single organism. That's all it takes Folks! To me, that's amazing and worth talking about.

Interested in what's going on? Click here and check it out! http://www.blogherald.com/2008/05/25/live-coverage-of-nasas-phoenix-mars-lander-tonight-at-6pm-est/

Darkest Memory

I am thrilled. Why you ask? Well, I've been busy finishing my latest vampire tale and 'wow' it's going extremely well! The stars have realigned themselves, the moon is where is where it needs to be, Venus is in my favor and my creativity is flowing.

A HUGE 'thank you' to ladyvampire2u and Dena, your words and advice meant the world to me. It was so great to hear your feedback!

When and if this story makes publication it will be titled, "Darkest Memory."

Eyes peeled and as always, fingers crossed! Let's see if I can pull it off!

Hugs all,
Sky

Vampire Mode

I know that I told everyone I would post to my blog at least once or twice a week and I haven't. The truth is I'm stuggling to get my latest piece finished.

What I've discovered is that I was arrogant. I thought I could go from writing in my 'comfy' zone which was fantasy fiction/paranormal/Celtic romance cross genre to Vampire. Hmm....it is proving to be very difficult for me but with the help of two very special (die-hard) crit partners, I will write this story.

I think half the problem is that I'm a Taurus (The astrological Bull) and I won't give up. I started this project and refuse to give up!

If you're swinging through this blog and have any feedback on what you like to read when and if you read a vampire story, feel free to leave a comment!

Thanks for popping in.

The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch

Hi everyone! I just got back from Vermont and had a great time visiting with my family. While I was there I started reading a book my sister gave me many months ago titled The Last Lecture. Why did it take me so long to read it? I'll be honest. The author, Randy Pausch, was dying of cancer. There has been so much cancer in my family over the last fifteen years that I suppose I just shied away from this book because of that. Mind you, this book has nothing to do with cancer, but inspiration and dreams. I wish I had started reading it sooner. I'm halfway through The Last Lecture now and I am beyond impressed with what this man had to say.

Today's post is dedicated to the late Randy Pausch and his family, may all of those in the world become as inspired by his words as I have. Below I've quoted from the main page of his website. Beneath that you'll find a link to his website. Take a moment and check it out. It's worth more than most of the things you will find on the internet.

From his website....

"On September 18, 2007, computer science professor Randy Pausch stepped in front of an audience of 400 people at Carnegie Mellon University to deliver a last lecture called “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams.” With slides of his CT scans beaming out to the audience, Randy told his audience about the cancer that is devouring his pancreas and that will claim his life in a matter of months. On the stage that day, Randy was youthful, energetic, handsome, often cheerfully, darkly funny. He seemed invincible. But this was a brief moment, as he himself acknowledged.

Randy’s lecture has become a phenomenon, as has the book he wrote based on the same principles, celebrating the dreams we all strive to make realities. Sadly, Randy lost his battle to pancreatic cancer on July 25th, 2008, but his legacy will continue to inspire us all, for generations to come."

Please, take a moment of your time and visit http://www.thelastlecture.com/

Thanks so much for stopping in.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY! Blog Event (Last day of contest, time to say Goodbye)

July 31st: Christmas in July! Blog Event (Participating authors listed to the right)

Hi everyone. Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed visiting my website yesterday. Before I ramble on, the winner is Eva…Congratulations!!! Please contact me at Skypurington@live.com.

Wow, I can’t believe it’s already the last day of July…and (frown) the last day of my Christmas in July! Blog Event. As some of you may know, I was fairly new at the whole blogging scene. I hardly feel new now! (Grin)

It has been so wonderful hearing all of your fantastic feedback throughout the month while I gabbed about my work, other author's work, the Song of the Muses Anthology and of course, my fellow participating blogger's websites in this event.

A HUGE ‘thank you’ to both Anna Kathryn Lanier and Skhye Moncrief for coming up with the idea for the Blog event and inviting me to join. You two are the best! I have heard a rumor that they might be putting together a twelve day blog event in December so keep your eyes peeled.

So now that we’ve reached the end of July we will all be looking forward to August. For me, August means a whole lot of writing and editing, chasing my toddler and visiting my cousin in Vermont. Do you have any plans for August or are you just kicking back when you’re not at work? Let me know in a comment for a chance to win a $5 gift certificate to The Wild Rose Press!

It has been such a pleasure meeting you all this month. Every day I’ve checked the comments and have walked away with a smile on my face. You have all been so fantastic and it’s been my pleasure to give away prizes to you. Normally, I would comment back but didn’t want to be partial in that I was running a contest. (Not to mention I’m simply not online much during the day)

Please pop in once and awhile to see what I’m gabbing about or even subscribe to this blog by scrolling to the end of this page, the sign up is there. I post about two or three times a week to give you an idea so if I hear from any of you avid contestants again I’ll be thrilled!

Take care and have a super summer!

Hugs,
Sky

CHRISTMAS IN JULY! Blog Event (Song of the Muses Anthology in its entirety)

July 23: Christmas in July! Blog Event (Participating Bloggers listed to the right)

I hope you had a blast the last nine days visiting the muses of inspiration from The Song of the Muses Anthology. Before I go any further yesterday’s winner is…Jane!!! Congratulations! Please contact me at Skypurington@live.com to collect your prize.

Today’s post serves two purposes. The first, a brief recap of the nine authors in The Song of the Muses Anthology. The second, I get to show off the three book covers that will make up the anthology when it all comes together in print. (In October!!!) I’m excited, can you tell? Hee hee.

Yes, you'll have to scroll down through all of our blurbs and covers to find out what you have to do to win today. Wide grin. Aren't I a pain?

When the muse of writing, Calliope, challenges Zeus to end her immortal existence, she faces the reality of death in Hades. Only Jake Genoese, an archaeologist's soul, can outwit Zeus's Harpies and help her find new purpose. Far more is at stake when both realize they are no more than pawns for ANCIENT MUSINGS.

Melpomene, Muse of Tragedy, risks everything to save Rowan Stewart’s life. Devoted to Scotland in life and the God of War in death, Rowan struggles to understand her undying devotion to him. Can a melodramatic Grecian Goddess and a resolute Scotsman truly love one another? Find out in HIGHLAND MUSE.

Hades, Zeus, Hestia and the chaos of a forgotten memory, Eutrepe hurries to fulfill her quest to unlock the buried words to complete Ceris' unfinished song. Their bond forged the night she's almost killed, Ceris must venture to the underworld to save her and bring them both into DESTINY'S LIGHT.

Urania, Muse of astronomy, despairs: invention rules; creativity has disappeared. Then she meets Daniel Kettering. But his research threatens time, space, and every existing world. His choice: forget science, get eternal life – or else. But first, they must save the universe, defeat Chaos, and find happiness in THE BRIGHTEST HEAVEN.

A love cut short, burns eternally bright. Beyond Hades domain and perilous encounters, two mortals fight to discover their passion. Will their untried bond endure? Can the Muse of Love overcome the destructive power of one Gods revenge, and right the wrongs of history? Only ERATO’S TEARS will determine.

The task assigned to Terpsichore, Muse of Dance, appears simple enough - to restore a love of dancing, to the Celts. However, all is not as it seems. Danger follows. Legends are threatened; and she did not mean to lose her heart , or have to save the man she loves by DANCING WITH FATE

Cursed for mocking Aphrodite, the goddess of love, Clio, Muse of History and her lover are thrust back in time to the Salem witch trials and then the Italian Renaissance. Only love can save them both, but is it enough? Is their love A LOVE BEYOND TIME?

Dispatching her favorite messenger to deliver laughter to a dying man, Thalia, the Muse of Comedy, faces down ancient curses and a vengeful Immortal bent on watching generations suffer. She'd rather be shoe-shopping! Luckily for Thalia, the God of War’s only weakness is Comedy’s greatest ally! NO FUNNY STUFF here!

Thrust through time to the dark ages of Ireland, Hymnia, muse of glorious praise, finds Dacien, the Laird of Castle Lugh, anything but god-like. She uncovers the mystery of the disappearing women of the castle, but loses her heart to the very person she suspects is the killer, in THE VICTORY OF LUGH.

All you need to do today to win a chance at the prize, a Celtic CD called Dance Upon the Shore, is leave a comment telling me who the father of these nine glorious muses of inspiration is! Either you know it, have to scroll back through the past nine posts (which all cover the muses) or you have to hit Google. Grin, I considered having you list the mother but decided to be kind! Just list Dad’s name.

Thanks so much for playing!

Okay, I’m next…literally! I’m the author of Highland Muse as most of you already know and (hee, hee) I’m thrilled to be able to throw up the cover again. In Highland Muse, second tale in The Song of the Muses series, Melpomene, Muse of Tragedy, is the heroine. Today’s question is what God (besides Melpomene!) seeks the hero, Rowan Stewart? Visit Melpomene at http://www.myspace.com/musingmelpomene to find out then return to this blog.

Ah, found the answer? Super. Leave the answer in a comment to win a chance at today’s prizes, a free download of Highland Muse and a $5 Gift Certificate to The Wild Rose Press!

CHRISTMAS IN JULY! Blog Event (Ancient Musings-Song of the Muses Anthology)

July 14th: Christmas in July! Blog Event. (Participating bloggers listed to the right)

Welcome back! I hope you had a nice relaxing Sunday. Thanks for all the fabulous comments you left yesterday. It was so wonderful reading them this morning. The winner of yesterday’s contest is….Mel K. (meljprincess)!!! Congrat’s Mel K! Please contact me at Skypurington@live.com to collect your prize.

As I mentioned yesterday, the next nine days involve Myspace and the Muses of Inspiration. If you’ve popped in before you may remember the day I posted the excerpt for Highland Muse. Well, it’s part of an Anthology called Song of the Muses. Each story has a different author and of course, a different muse. Each day, going in the order in which they fall in the series, I will post the story’s cover, author, who their muse is and a link to that muses Myspace page. Yes, every single muse has their own site! If the story is available I’ll also provide a buy link.

Your mission? To head on over to each muse site as it’s posted and search out the answer to the question I ask that day, pop back to my blog and leave the answer in a comment. No worries, I won’t make them difficult! (hint, hint, most answers can be found in the blurb on each of the Muse's Myspace sites)

NOTE: If you have a Myspace feel free to shoot us a friend request and keep up to date on what’s happening with the anthology!

Today’s post, as you can see, is about Skhye Moncrief’s, Ancient Musings, story one in The Song of the Muses Anthology. Today’s question is who does Calliope, Muse of Writing, challenge to end her immortal existence? To find the answer visit Calliope at the following link. http://www.myspace.com/calliopemuse1of9 then return to this blog.

Have the answer? Great! Tell me what it is in a comment for a chance to win a $5 Gift Certificate to The Wild Rose Press. Please check back tomorrow to find out who won. All winners must contact me at Skypurington@live.com.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY! Blog Event (Sylvan's Mist Cover)

July 13th: Christmas in July! Blog Event. (Participating authors listed to the right)

Hope you had a blast yesterday visiting Chicks of Characterization blogspot!

Before I get started the winner of yesterday’s contest is…(crowd jumps up & down)…Jeanette!!! Congratulations Jeanette, please contact me at Skypurington@live.com to collect your prize!

Remember when I said I was waiting on Sylvan’s Mist’s cover? Wide Grin. Well, it’s finished!!! Check it out! The extremely talented Tamra Westbury has done it again. I actually received it at the start of the week but wanted my featured authors to have their moment in the sun. Have to tell you, the waiting has been killing me. I wanted to post it the minute I received it.

So seeing how it’s Sunday and I’m going to be sending you to different Muse Myspace sites over the next nine days, I figured to keep today’s contest simple. All you need to do is join me in celebration by leaving a comment about Sylvan’s Mist’s cover! To celebrate the last cover for my Scottish Trilogy, I’ll be giving away one of my all time favorite CD’s. (I think I listened to it about 50 times last Christmas while writing) It’s called Highland Christmas (Highland Bagpipes). If you like the bagpipes you don’t want to miss out on a chance to win this. I know, I know, it’ll be a while before you can listen to it but you’ll be thanking me come December!

Thanks so much for playing!
