"Love Can Begin With Reverie..." Interview with Alexander of In Her Dreams.

Welcome to day two of A Writer’s Mind’s, End of Week Character Blowout! Yesterday, I interviewed Evangeline, the heroine from Katherine Givens', In Her Dreams. Today, I’ll be chatting with her hero, Alexander. So sit back, relax and read on. But before we begin, let's learn a bit more about this novella...

Her heart belongs to an alluring, golden-haired gentleman, perfect in every way...except one: he doesn’t exist.

Angela Vernon is everything a proper, well-brought-up woman should be. She knows her place and understands society’s expectations — which include not being jealous of her sister and not coveting her sister’s suitor. But how can she bear the heartache of watching the only man she loves marry not only her sister, but a woman who doesn’t see past his exterior to the man he is beneath?

On to the Interview!

SKY:  Alexander, tell us a little bit about you.

ALEXANDER: What is there to tell? I am guarded. Sometimes prone to bouts of loneliness, but I am a man like any other.

SKY:   Remembering the moment you first laid eyes on Evangeline, what thoughts come to mind?

ALEXANDER: Evangeline, the first person to breech my solitude for years. I was utterly enchanted by her, for I had never seen a woman with such fire. Such zeal. Her chin was stubbornly set. Her eyes wide with amazement. She was beautiful.

SKY:   She has one trait you adored from the start. What is it? Hands down, she appreciates one of your traits…what do you think that is?

ALEXANDER: Knowing Evangeline, she is proud of the fact she is the remedy to my one vulnerability. My loneliness. Despite her stubbornness and hotheadedness, Evangeline has one of the kindest hearts. She is willing to do anything for the ones she loves, which I absolutely respect and admire.

SKY:  She has one trait you’d change if you could. What is it? You figure there’s probably a trait she might want to change about you… care to share?

ALEXANDER: Her lack of faith in my assurances that one day we will be together in every respect. I swear it will happen if it is the last thing I do, for I know she loathes the one thing keeping us apart. My dream-like state. Our dream-like state.

SKY:  Ah, love is in the air. What is the single most romantic thing you’ve done for her?

ALEXANDER: Promising to be with her forever and always.

SKY:  She has a feature that draws your eye every time. Care to share? She can’t stare at you enough… but where is she staring? Now’s the time to gloat about your thick head of hair. *Sky sniggers* Truth! Do you think it’s your eyes? Chest? Etc.

ALEXANDER: Her lips. Her lips thin whenever she dwells on her worries. My first reaction is to try and kiss away her concern, her pain. As for me, I’d say it is my golden hair. She often compares my hair to the mane of a lion, the king of the pride. I am not certain if I should be flattered or offended by the comparison…

SKY:   How do you think (heroine’s name) would answer the following…  Our favorite thing to do together is…?

ALEXANDER: Exploring my library. I have a cache of books we poured over at the beginning of our relationship, but as of late we’ve abandoned the dusty tomes for talk of where our lives are heading… What did Evangeline say?

SKY:  You and Evangeline don’t see eye to eye on what issue?

ALEXANDER: One day being together beyond our dreams, the doubtful minx.

SKY:   She said one thing to you that you’ll never forget. What was it?

ALEXANDER:  “I think I love you.” Ha! Evangeline has a knack for poetry, does she not? I am absolutely certain of my love for her, yet she is now coming to terms with her own sentiments for me… Pardon me, Sky, but I must be off. This chat was delightful, but I am in need of rest.

SKY: Wonderful interview! Thanks for joining me today.

"He Came to Her in a Dream..." Interview with Angela Vernon of In Her Dreams.

Welcome! You’ve arrived just in time to enjoy an End of the Week Character Blowout. Today and tomorrow, I’ll be interviewing the hero and heroine from Katherine Givens, In Your Dreams. It’s always interesting to see how well the couples from some of your favorite books really know one another. Today, we’ll chat with Evangeline Vernon, then tomorrow, the object of her affections, Alexander. Before we get started, let's learn a bit more about this Regency Romance Novella...

Time to Interview!

SKY:  Evangeline, Tell us a little bit about you.

EVANGELINE: Oh, where do I begin? My family is pressing me to encourage the Duke of Manchester, the most boring gentleman to ever grace the ton, in what I consider to be a mockery of a courtship. I am nearing spinsterhood, you see. Snagging myself a duke would be impressive for a woman of my status, but I suspect my dearest sister is in love with Manchester! I haven’t a clue how to act. And, besides… my own heart belongs to another.

SKY:   Remembering the moment you first laid eyes on Alexander, what thoughts come to mind?

EVANGELINE: Alexander? He was the most tempting creature I’d ever beheld. His eyes were the most remarkable shade of green, his gaze searing my skin. As striking as he was, I sensed an aura of loneliness about him. He was…melancholy, and a part of me wanted to discover why. But, I told myself, I was only dreaming.

SKY:   He has one trait you adored from the start. What is it? You know without doubt he appreciates one of your traits. Share what you think that is.

EVANGELINE: I adore his rigid composure isn’t so fallible. A part of him is vulnerable…to me. And I think he adores I am aware of this vulnerability.

SKY:  He has one trait you’d change if you could. What is it? Oh yeah, there’s a trait you know he’d change about you…fess up!

EVANGELINE: Alexander would prefer I wasn’t so elusive. The trait I’d change is his nonexistence! Lord, sometimes I wish my dreams were not more enticing than reality. *Sigh* Sorry for my little outburst there. It is only… Never mind. I do not wish to burden you with my life’s complications… You were saying?

SKY:  Ah, love is in the air. What is the single most romantic thing he’s done for you?

EVANGELINE: Alexander once swooped me into his arms and promised to find me. He would never quit trying to carry our love outside the realm of dreams and into reality. The greatest gift he could ever give me is himself. I only hope he comes through, even if I am skeptical.

SKY:  He has a feature that draws your eye every time. Care to share? His eye constantly roams to a particular part of your person. Tell, tell!

EVANGELINE: Ooh. I do love this question. His feature I adore is, as I said previously, his lonely, green eyes. Alexander’s gaze is always attracted to my lips, for I think he cannot last too long without a kiss!

SKY:   How do you think Alexander would answer the following…  Our favorite thing to do together is…?

EVANGELINE: Lord, I am blushing. I think our favorite pastime is typical of any blossoming couple. How do I put this delicately? Exploring one another’s…persons?

SKY:  You and Alexander just don’t see eye to eye on what issue?

EVANGELINE: Ever being united with one another. He has a knack for hope. I, on the other hand, might only maintain hope if I have a plan to enact, and I am currently unaware of his.

SKY:   He said one thing to you that you’ll never forget. What was it?

EVANGELINE:  Simple. He once said to me, “You have been vital to my life, my dreams, for these past few months. Without you I fear I would not know how to live.” Goodness. (Evangeline fans herself.) I think I need to lie down and take a nap. Thank you for the wonderful chat, but I need to become lost in my dreams.

SKY: Great interview! It’s been a pleasure having you over.

I Interviewed Lucifer! Viola Ryan's, The Mark of Abel.

Welcome back to A Writer’s Mind’s, END OF WEEK CHARACTER BLOWOUT. Yesterday I interviewed Chiemi Janet O’Malley (goes by Janie), the heroine of Viola Ryan’s, The Mark of Abel. Click HERE to read it. Today I’m interviewing the hero, Lucifer (goes by Luke.)

GIVEAWAY! Be sure to ener the Rafflecopter after this post for a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card.

Interview time

SKY:  Tell us a little bit about you.

LUKE: What’s there to tell? I’m the first vampire. God hates me. Janie loves me. Isn’t that all that really matters?

SKY:   Remembering the moment you first laid eyes on Janie, what thoughts come to mind?

LUKE: I’ve been looking for the artist for nearly two millennia. Every time I find her, she is killed. It sucks. When I first started following Janie, I was convinced she couldn’t be the one, though her eyes intrigued me. They were paradoxical, showing both confusion and understanding. They eyes of a seeker.

SKY:   She has one trait you adored from the start. What is it? Hands down, she appreciates one of your traits…what do you think that is?

LUKE: I fell for her passion. She may think of herself as a teacher, but she’s really a priestess. She brings that passion to everything she does. She’d never admit it, but she loves how stubborn I am. If I weren’t, I would have given up finding her a long  time ago.

SKY:  She has one trait you’d change if you could. What is it? You figure there’s probably a trait she might want to change about you… care to share?

LUKE: She is full of self-doubt. i understand where it comes from, but she needs to move beyond it. Her parents are gone. They loved her, which is more than I can say for my father. She’s always on me about my temper, though hers is worse.

SKY:  Ah, love is in the air. What is the single most romantic thing you’ve done for her?

LUKE: Those are human terms I really don’t understand.

SKY:  She has a feature that draws your eye every time. Care to share? She can’t stare at you enough… but where is she staring? Now’s the time to gloat about your thick head of hair. *Sky sniggers* Truth! Do you think it’s your eyes? Chest? Etc.

LUKE: I love her hands. They are pale and slender. They look like they belong to a China doll and could actually break off, but nothing can break my Janie. I’m Lucifer. I’m perfect, God’s greatest creation. There isn’t just one things she looks at.  I’m the total package.

SKY:   How do you think Janie would answer the following…  Our favorite thing to do together is…?

LUKE: She likes to paint me. I love watching her work and see how she sees me.

SKY:  You and Janie don’t see eye to eye on what issue?

LUKE:  That’s easy. She’s always nagging me to help humans. Really what’s the point? I can’t protect you from yourselves. God won’t let me. What you do to each other is way worse than what the Grigori can do.

SKY:   She said one thing to you that you’ll never forget. What was it?

LUKE: “I’M NOT CRAZY.” The woman was willing to endure hell for me. Her friend told her she was crazy and Janie fought back.

SKY: Great interview! Thanks for joining me.

Man's Inhumanity is Only Escalating. Janie Shares. The Mark of Abel by Viola Ryan.

Holy Hell Tour

Welcome to A Writer's Mind's, END OF WEEK CHARACTER BLOWOUT. Today it’s my pleasure to interview Chiemi Janet O’Malley (goes by Janie) from Viola Ryan’s, The Mark of Abel. Be sure to pop back in tomorrow as I interview the hero, Lucifer (goes by Luke).

Before the interview, let’s learn a bit about the book…

Lucifer is fed up with humanity. He created hell to deter evil, but man’s inhumanity is only escalating. He just wants to return home to heaven, but ever since that little problem in the Garden of Eden, the Pearly Gates remain firmly shut to him. It doesn’t help that he’s the first vampire, an abomination in God’s sight.

Fortunately, two thousand years ago Lucifer’s estranged brother, Jesus, gave him a prophecy. To fulfill it, all Lucifer has to do is find the right artist, study her artwork and the path back to heaven will be revealed. The artist even bears a symbol so he knows who she is. Too bad she is murdered every time he finds her.

Janie’s a frustrated artist and college art teacher who wants two things—a guy she can show her paintings to and a night without nightmares. Each nightmare plagues her until she paints it. She doesn’t realize these paintings are key to unlocking her destiny, one that could redeem the original fallen angel.

GIVEAWAY! Be sure to enter the Rafflecopter after this post for a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card.

Interview time!

SKY:  Tell us a little bit about you.

JANIE:  My parents worked for the Angel Alliance, a non-denominational relief organization. I’ve been all over the world, mainly third world nations. They passed away when a dam burst in China. They were helping farmers displaced by the dam. I’ve always wanted to be an artist. When I was a child they encouraged me, but as I got older they expected me to follow in their footsteps. That wasn’t my path. They died a decade ago, right after I left them to go to school. I teach college students how to appreciate and understand art. I love my  job. I help bring people closer to a deeper understanding of the universe and themselves. Art feeds the soul every bit as much as religion.

SKY:   Remembering the moment you first laid eyes on Lucifer, what thoughts come to mind?

JANIE: This incredibly hot student hopefully needed my help. He knocked on my office door very late. Any fear I had at this vanished as soon as I saw him. He had the disheveled look common among artists. Maybe he was another artist. I had no clue who or what he was. I thought he was Luke Shachar. Just another grad student.

SKY:   He has one trait you adored from the start. What is it? You know without doubt he appreciates one of your traits. Share what you think that is.

JANIE: He takes care of me. I totally freaked out and he just kept repeating that he wouldn’t let anything happen to me. I believed him. He listens to me. He values my opinion, not just as a teacher, but a woman.

SKY:  He has one trait you’d change if you could. What is it? Oh yeah, there’s a trait you know he’d change about you…fess up!

JANIE:  Deep down he is a very angry individual. I understand where they anger comes from, but I’d like him to let it go. He needs to move beyond it and do something with his life. Me? He’s always trying to get me to speak more. I’m just not a big talker.

SKY:  Ah, love is in the air. What is the single most romantic thing he’s done for you?

JANIE: Does rescuing me from fallen angels count? If not, standing up to God to defend me. It doesn’t get any bigger than that.

SKY:  He has a feature that draws your eye every time. Care to share? His eye constantly roams to a particular part of your person. Tell, tell!

JANIE: His eyes are incredible. They are both green and blue, like a field of bluebells on a verdant hill or green flowers on a sapphire ocean. I  can never determine which is the dominant color and am constantly looking at them trying to decide. For me, I have this mark on my chest. I used to dream of it all the time and finally had it tattooed above my heart. I swear he can see through my clothes. He loves to trace it.

SKY:   How do you think Luke would answer the following…  Our favorite thing to do together is…?

JANIE: I know the answer, but he would never admit to it in public. What he’ll admit to is talking about all the past lives we’ve shared together.

SKY:  You and Lucifer just don’t see eye to eye on what issue?

JANIE: He doesn’t care about humanity anymore. He has all these powers and he does nothing to help others. He created hell as a deterrent to get people to behave. He doesn’t even bother with that anymore. He lets Lilith and his twins run it.

SKY:   He said one thing to you that you’ll never forget. What was it?

JANIE: He yelled at God.  “Is this one of your lessons? Well, guess what? You don’t need to remind me how powerful you are, but most of all, she’s not a learning experience!” He said that to God in my defense.

SKY:  Great interview! I look forward to having ‘Luke’ over tomorrow.

Interview with Sara of Bevelaire- The Princes Knighted.

Welcome to A Writer’s Mind’s, END OF THE WEEK CHARACTER BLOWOUT! On Monday I invited  Robin Danner over to share a little bit about the cover for her latest release, THE PRINCES KNIGHTED. Now it’s my pleasure to welcome over and interview the characters from this story. Today I’ll be interviewing the heroine, Sara of Bevelaire. Tomorrow, the hero, Hugh d’Arcy.

Before we get started, let’s learn more about The Princes Knighted.

Sir Hugh d’Arcy has returned from the battlefield to escort Sara, the princess of Noventia’s sister, to wed another. The mission is his duty, and his personal agony. Sara has never forgotten her love for the boy Hugh once was. When captured, a shocking revelation brings their love to life again. To save all he has sworn to protect, Hugh faces a devastating decision. Can Sara convince him her love is strong enough to overcome any obstacle?

Interview time!

SKY:  Tell us a little bit about you.

SARA:  Hello, I’m Sara! My older sister, Rowena, is the princess of Noventia. We’ve lived in N’ior, the capital city of Noventia, for about three years now and I’ve never seen a lovelier place. (Our life in Bevelaire was fairly gloomy before we came here.) I recently agreed to marry the Duke of Aronia, but Hugh d’Arcy, the boy I’ve loved since I was sixteen, has just returned to N’ior.

SKY:   Remembering the moment you first laid eyes on Hugh, what thoughts come to mind?

SARA: My sister had just helped me escape the rebels, but she was captured. I ran for help and that’s when I encountered Prince Talin and his favorite recruit, Hugh. Hugh was such a hero, allowing me to ride his horse with him since I’m deathly afraid of them!

SKY:   He has one trait you adored from the start. What is it? You know without doubt he appreciates one of your traits. Share what you think that is.

SARA: It would definitely be his sweetness. Hugh has always treated me with the kindest regard, even though he was seventeen when we first met. He wasn’t like most lads his age. He was patient and kind and willing to befriend me when I knew no one at N’ior other than my sister. And, he probably wouldn’t admit it, but Hugh has always felt responsible for me. He earned my hero worship at a young age and patiently stepped into the role of my protector.

SKY:  He has one trait you’d change if you could. What is it? Oh yeah, there’s a trait you know he’d change about you…fess up!

SARA: That’s a simple one, his stubbornness! Hugh thinks he knows what’s best for me even though I tell him time and again that I know my own mind. This hearkens back to his protector role. He would probably say the same about me.

SKY:  Ah, love is in the air. What is the single most romantic thing he’s done for you?

SARA: Oh, it would be so hard to name just one! It’s a mixture of many things…the way he looks at me, the way he holds me, the way he tries his best to protect me. Once he was even gravely injured, but he was determined to fight our captors to save me.

SKY:  He has a feature that draws your eye every time. Care to share? His eye constantly roams to a particular part of your person. Tell, tell!

SARA: I’m always been fond of his hair. Hugh has golden brown curls that have a tendency to fall over his brow. My fingers constantly itch to touch them! As for my feature, it may sound trite, but Hugh seems to adore my eyes. They are hazel and he claims that they alternating green and brown hues entrance him. (Blushes)

SKY:   How do you think Hugh would answer the following…  Our favorite thing to do together is…?

SARA: Sit in the rose garden at N’ior

SKY:  You and Hugh just don’t see eye to eye on what issue?

SARA: Hugh thinks he has to be constantly on his guard around me. I just want him to know that I’m not a child anymore and my need for him is that of a woman.

SKY:   He said one thing to you that you’ll never forget. What was it?

SARA:  Hugh revealed the identity of the rebel leader to me, but shush…I can’t say. It’s a secret!

SKY:  Thanks so much for joining me today!

Readers, be sure to swing in tomorrow as I welcome over the hero of The Princes KnightedHugh d’Arcy.

Character Blowout. Terpsichore, Muse of Dance, has been Interviewed. Two Chances to Win!

Happy Thursday everyone! As many of you know, the end of the week at A Writer’s Mind often means it’s time for my Character Blowout. This fun event is all about seeing how well the characters from some of your favorite romance tales know one another.

Back in July, I welcomed over Hywela Lyn to chat about the re-release of Dancing with Fate. Regrettably, there was a death in my family and I had to cancel all remaining blog posts. Well, I’m thrilled to be able to finally share Terpsichore and Myrddin with you. These characters are absolutely delightful and I guarantee that you’ll fall in love with them as much as I did!

CONTEST ~ Be sure to comment over the next few days. Two lucky commenters will be picked to win an Ecopy of Dancing with Fate. Contest ends Sunday, November 6th 12 AM, EST.

Today, I’m welcoming over Terpsichore, Muse of Dance. Before we begin interview this intriguing muse, let’s learn a bit more about the story…

When Terpsichore, the Greek Muse of Dance, is assigned to revisit 5th Century Wales, and help the people regain their love of dancing, her task seems simple enough. She is unaware there is a hidden agenda. Before she can return to Olympus her path crosses that of the mysterious Myrddin, and her heart is lost.

But Myrddin is promised to another. His mind is set on the dangerous task that lies before him, and the woman he has sworn to save. Nevertheless, he cannot deny the growing attraction between him and the beautiful stranger he meets along the way.

Terpsichore and Myrddin face a deadly force that threatens to part them forever. Is she destined to lose the only man she has ever truly loved? Is there nothing she can do to save him? Finally, when all seems lost, in desperation she finds herself DANCING WITH FATE.

Interview time!

SKY: Tell us a little bit about yourself, Terpsichore.

TERPISCHORE: Thank you for having us and for giving us the opportunity to talk about each other – what fun!

I’m one of the nine daughters of Zeus. I inspire people to dance - I’m sure you’ve heard of me and my eight sisters. After all, we’re with you all at various times in your life even though you may not realize it. I was perfectly content with my life on Olympus, inspiring individuals, playing the lyre and dancing for Apollo our leader and my half brother, until he and my father decided to send me on a mission to 5th Century Wales. I little knew then what lay in store for me.

SKY: Ohhhh, Wales… sounds fabulous! Remembering the moment you first laid eyes on Myrddin what thoughts come to mind?

TERPSICHORE: I was dancing at the time - and I’d been bathing in the falls so I wasn’t actually wearing any clothes. I wondered how long he’d been watching me. It wasn’t that I minded, but my instructions were not to draw attention to myself, and he was staring! I also have to admit I thought he was one of the most striking and interesting mortals I’d ever seen - there was definitely something rather special about him.

SKY: He has one trait you adored from the start. What is it? You know without doubt he appreciates one of your traits. Share what you think that is.

TERPSICHORE: I love his humility - and his gentleness. He didn’t seem to realize the power he had within him at the time - and even if he did he didn’t make a song and (if you’ll exuse the pun) dance about it.

I think what he likes most about me is that I make him laugh - that and my looks I suppose, after all the daughters of Zeus are goddesses and as such very beautiful, and in all modesty, I know he couldn’t take his eyes of me when he first he saw me. (Of course I was naked at the time which might have had something to do with it, *Grin*.)

SKY: He has one trait you’d change if you could. What is it? Oh yeah, there’s a trait you know he’d change about you…fess up!

TERPSHICHORE: He’s pretty near perfect in my eyes – but he can be a bit over protective at times, even now. He’s not exactly bossy but he does try to stop me from doing things on the spur of the moment, not that I take much notice of course, I’m a muse!

SKY: Ah, love is in the air. What is the single most romantic thing he’s done for you?

TERPSHICORE: He was nearly killed trying to protect me, can’t get more romantic than that!

SKY: He has a feature that draws your eye every time. Care to share? His eye constantly roams to a particular part of your person. Tell, tell!

TERPSICHORE: My eyes are always drawn to his eyes. They are the most subtle shade of blue, like Aegean sea beneath the softest summer sky – oh and his voice, it still sends shivers of delight through me, so rich and mellow. For him, I suppose it’s my hair, it’s really long, you see, down to my feet and he loves to run his hands through it.

SKY: How do you think Myrddin would answer the following… Our favorite thing to do together is…?

TERPSHICHORE: *Giggle* You mean besides the obvious? Well, dancing together of course, I’ve taught him steps he’d never even heard of before. Apart from that we love riding the horses, Sal and Harri, and racing each other across the Elyssian fields, and afterwards bathing in the Spring of Hippocrene together before – well you get the picture!

SKY: You and Myrddin just don’t see eye to eye on what issue?

TERPSICHORE: There aren’t many things we don’t agree on, although I don’t think he really approves of me bathing naked in the falls if there’s anyone else around. He doesn’t mind if it’s just him of course, but he’s never really got used to the fact that we Greeks are proud of our bodies and enjoy showing them off!

SKY: He said one thing to you that you’ll never forget. What was it?

TERPSICHORE: He told me: “I love you, with all my heart and soul, more than life itself.” What woman or goddess wouldn’t want to hear those words?

What a fabulous interview! I can’t wait to hear what Myrddin has to say tomorrow!

CHARACTER BLOWOUT- HIS TURN! Elizabeth Mean's, Dangerous Charade.

Welcome to the second day of A Writer’s Mind’s, END OF WEEK CHARACTER INTERVIEW. Executed much like The Newlywed Game done blog style, this event tests how well the characters from some of your favorite romance novels really know one another!

Yesterday, I interviewed Gabrielle Broussard from Elizabeth Mean’s, DANGEROUS CHARADE. Today, it’s my pleasure to interview the hero in this story, Lord Julien Blackwell. For your convenience, I’ve added snippets from Gabrielle’s answers and put them alongside Julien’s. I highly recommend that you check out Gabrielle’s Interview to read her full responses. She has a great ‘voice.’

Let’s have some fun! Interview time…

SKY: Tell us a little bit about you.

JULIEN: Right now I’m a favorite subject of the gossips in the ton due to the circumstances surrounding my late wife’s death over four months ago. Our marriage was not a good one and apparently some believe I may have had a hand in it. The notion is bloody ridiculous, of course.

(Gabrielle’s response… I’m currently working undercover as a governess at Westford Castle to investigate the suspicious death of the Countess of Westford…)

SKY: Remembering the moment you first laid eyes on Gabrielle, what thoughts come to mind?

JULIEN: Ah, Gabrielle, I’m afraid she’ll hold that day against me forever. I thought her the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen. You’d agree if you met her. The thoughts that came to my mind that afternoon aren’t fit to print. Let’s just say I wanted to see more of her than her prim dress would allow and leave it at that.

(Gabrielle’s response… The odious man! Considering he man-handled me in a most inappropriate fashion my thoughts from that fateful afternoon are not fit for print…)

SKY: She has one trait you adored from the start. What is it? Hands down, she appreciates one of your traits…what do you think that is?

JULIEN: Gabrielle speaks her mind. I love that about her, even when the things she says make me want to strangle her. Not that I ever would! For the record, I would never murder an innocent woman. But you understand what I mean.

I think she likes that I’m direct, too. I don’t mince words, I don’t play games. I am who I am. I believe she trusts me because of that.

(Gabrielle’s response… His voice. When he says my name in that seductive drawl of his I almost melt. I fear he’s figured it out, too…)

SKY: She has one trait you’d change if you could. What is it? You figure there’s probably a trait she might want to change about you… care to share?

JULIEN: She’s moodier than a cat. I can’t figure her out half the time. On the one hand I believe she’s probably the most genuine woman I’ve ever met. But on the other, I’m starting to get the feeling there’s something she’s keeping from me. Something important. And I don’t like it.

What would she change about me? I shudder to think. Many things probably – don’t ask her!

(Gabrielle’s response… Well, first and foremost I’d change the fact that he is my number suspect in the death of the Countess of Westford. Or I’d change the fact that I’m undeniably attracted to him. The situation is becoming exceedingly complicated! What would he change about me? That’s hard to say…you’ll have to ask him. I’d love to hear his answer!)

SKY: Ah, love is in the air. What is the single most romantic thing you’ve done for her?

JULIEN: I bought more than thirty bouquets of peach roses (her favorite) and arranged them in the dining room where I had a special candle-lit dinner for two planned. Unfortunately, the dinner did not go quite as I’d hoped it would. I should’ve known something would go awry as nothing is simple with Gabrielle.

(Gabrielle’s response… He took me on a romantic ride and picnic where he really opened up and I learned some very intriguing things about him I did not know.)

SKY: She has a feature that draws your eye every time. Care to share? She can’t stare at you enough… but where is she staring? Now’s the time to gloat about your thick head of hair. *Sky sniggers* Truth! Do you think it’s your eyes? Chest? Etc.

JULIEN: Her hair. I can’t get enough of it. She insists on wearing it bound up most of the time and it drives me insane to see it all twisted up like that. It should be worn free and long, that way I can run my fingers through it and all the way down to the small of her back…when she’ll let me.

When Gabrielle looks at me I get the feeling she’s staring mostly at my mouth. I can only assume that is because she’s wildly attracted to me and wants me to kiss her. So I try to, often.

(Gabrielle’s response… His eyes. They’re the rarest shade of green and I never tire of looking into them. I know he loves my hair, he’s constantly staring at it and takes every opportunity to free if from whatever style I have it in. He loves to run his hands through it and all the way down my back.)

SKY: How do you think Gabrielle would answer the following… Our favorite thing to do together is…?

JULIEN: Kiss. Although I suppose she wouldn’t actually say that since it’s un-ladylike to kiss and tell. She’ll probably give you some silly answer like “talk.” But what she really means is kiss.

(Gabrielle’s response… Spar. With words, not weapons. We are constantly battling wits and I’m not sure who is ahead we’ve had so many matches. Sometimes it’s the only way to relieve the tension between us. The only appropriate way.)

SKY: You and Gabrielle don’t see eye to eye on what issue?

JULIEN: Her safety. It’s becoming more and more clear there is a killer in our midst and I’m doing my best to protect her but she keeps pulling away. Like she doesn’t trust me. I’m positive there’s something she’s not telling me, and I intend to get to the bottom of it.

(Gabrielle’s response… He wants to keep tabs on my every move lately and I refuse to allow it. I have a job to do, which he doesn’t truly understand, and he’s making it difficult. He claims he’s protecting me from danger.)

SKY: She said one thing to you that you’ll never forget. What was it?

JULIEN: She dared to accuse me of being a “no-good, outlaw, poaching ruffian” – while I was standing on my own land! The truth is Gabrielle crashed into my life in a most surprising manner, my world has not been the same since. And I couldn’t be any bloody happier about it.

(Gabrielle’s response… He told me that I was an excellent actress – not knowing the real truth of his statement. It caused me to panic momentarily as I feared he’d figured out who I was and why I was really at Westford Castle. Fortunately, it was only a false alarm.)

Sky here. Another great interview. Sounds like Julien and Gabrielle make quite the pair! I, for one, can’t wait to read this book.

CHARACTER BLOWOUT. Caroline Clemmons', HOME SWEET TEXAS HOME. Chance to WIN!!!

Welcome! We’ve arrived once more at A Writer’s Mind, End of Week Character Blowout. For those of you unfamiliar, this particular blog event is sort of like The Newlywed Game. On Thursdays, I invite over the heroine from some of your favorite tales. On Friday, the hero. It’s all about seeing how well they really know one another when asked the same questions.

Today it’s my pleasure to welcome over Courtney Madison from Caroline Clemmons’, HOME SWEET TEXAS HOME. Caroline joined me last week for A Writer’s Mind, Monday Covers It feature to chat a bit about the ‘story’ behind the cover for HOME SWEET TEXAS HOME. Click HERE to check it out.

CONTEST! One lucky commenter will win an Ecopy of HOME SWEET TEXAS HOME! Those who commented on Caroline’s Monday Covers it feature are also in the race.

Before I begin the interview, let’s learn a bit about this fabulous book…

Two million dollars? What a fortune to inherit! Coutney Madison has battled poverty her entire twenty-five years but is determined to make a safe and happy home for her teenaged brother after the death of their mom. She thinks her inheritance in West Texas is the answer to her prayers--but Courtney's problems are definitely not over yet.

Derek Corrigan suspects the worst of his new neighbor and vows to fight his attraction for her. He knows what women do to him--they always leave and take chunks of his heart with them. He's been there, done that, had the vaccination and is cured. Isn't he?

Time for the interview!

SKY: Tell us a little bit about you, Courtney.

COURTNEY: I’m twenty-five and grew up in Dallas, Texas. My dad died was a policeman. My mom had two miscarriages before my brother Jimmy was born, and we were so happy when he arrived when I was ten. When Jimmy was only an infant, my dad stopped to help a motorist change a tire, and a drunk driver hit him. Dad and the woman he stopped to help were killed. My mom had never worked and didn’t even know how to balance a checkbook. She went to work in the school cafeteria, and I sort of took over the finances. Then, when I was starting high school, she was diagnosed with ALS and became increasingly ill and difficult. Poor Jimmy hardly remembers the wonderful Mom she was before Dad died and before she became ill. I worked part-time in high school for an independent book store in downtown Dallas, and eventually became the store’s manager.

SKY: Remembering the moment you first laid eyes on Derek, what thoughts come to mind?

COURTNEY: Dear heavens! He was the handsomest man I’d ever seen. His cobalt eyes and dark hair, his height and regal bearing--a prince couldn’t have looked more impressive. He wore a western cut dark gray suit and carried a light gray Stetson. Honestly, people stare at him he’s so handsome. And I was in such a hurry I ran right into him. What a horrid first impression of me he must have had.

SKY: He has one trait you adored from the start. What is it? You know without doubt he appreciates one of your traits. Share what you think that is.

COURTNEY: His eyes. Oh yes, you mean a trait, but you shouldn’t have made me think about his eyes. They are this amazing shade of blue and they twinkle when he’s mischievous. Of course, they also ignite sparks when he’s angry. Sigh, where was I? Oh, yes, you want a trait. Right away I noticed he’s an amazing father and had been a wonderful son to his adopted father, the man who left me my fortune.

What he seems to like about me is that I always get nervous around him and do odd things. Drat! I always do something outrageous when he’s around and embarrass myself something awful. It’s as if just looking at Derek subtracts IQ points from my brain.

SKY: He has one trait you’d change if you could. What is it? Oh yeah, there’s a trait you know he’d change about you…fess up!

COURTNEY: If I could change one thing about him, it would be to make him more trusting and realize what a wonderful and lovable man he is. Sigh. I told you how he’s the best father ever, but I didn’t mention how much he helps people in the Sweet Springs community. Everyone admires him. I mean everyone!

About me, well, he’d probably like it if I weren’t so impulsive. He thinks things through very slowly and analytically, you know? I do analyze, but not slowly, then tend to jump in.

SKY: Ah, love is in the air. What is the single most romantic thing he’s done for you?

COURTNEY: So many things, but the first thing was, Derek took me to Dallas when he went on business. Oh, I should add he also took his children and my brother, and that my brother and I stayed in one suite while he and his children stayed in another. But he took me to a lovely dinner atop Reunion Tower and then sightseeing the next day. Sigh. I’d lived in Dallas all my life, but had never seen the places we went--except the natural science museum. I couldn’t believe the luxury of the hotel or the restaurant. Secretly, I pretended that we were married and the kids were ours. But something so embarrassing happened at the restaurant. You know it revolves, don’t you? Yes, the entire restaurant moves slowly around so diners see the entire city by the time they’ve finished their meal. Oh, I can’t even talk about my “event,” as Derek calls it. He says I’m “event prone” and he’s right.

SKY: He has a feature that draws your eye every time. Care to share? His eye constantly roams to a particular part of your person. Tell, tell!

COURTNEY: I can’t keep from looking at his eyes, did I mention that he has gorgeous cobalt blue eyes? Sigh. He also has the most kissable mouth of any man in the world. I mean the world! Totally! So, I guess I’d better say his face, so that I can use his eyes and mouth. He is so handsome, and he’s interested in ME. Really, I have to pinch myself sometimes to believe I’m so lucky.

SKY: How do you think Derek would answer the following… Our favorite thing to do together is…?

COURTNEY: Just spending time together. Whatever we do is better if we’re together. We try not to overdo leaving the kids, but Jimmy babysits Meg and Warren whenever we ask. Most times the five of us go places together, though.

SKY: You and Derek just don’t see eye to eye on what issue?

COURTNEY: Well, at first, it was me coming to West Texas. Derek thought I should just sell out to him for all cash, but I desperately needed a reason to get Jimmy away from his awful new friends who encouraged him to cut classes--and who knows what else? Besides, Sam Warren left me the estate because he wanted me to live there. In exchange for two million, the least I could do was go along with Sam’s wishes.

SKY: He said one thing to you that you’ll never forget. What was it?

COURTNEY: Before he even said he was attracted to me, he said I was a good businesswoman. You have no idea how much that meant, and still means, to me.

SKY: Courtney, it was great having you over today. Can’t wait to chat with Derek tomorrow!

CHARACTER BLOWOUT. His Turn! Faith V. Smith's, IMMORTAL JUSTICE.

T.G.I.F! It’s day two of A Writer’s Mind, End of Week Character Blowout. If you’re joining us for the first time, here’s a brief recap. The Character Blowout is much like The Newlywed Game blog style! On Thursday I interview the heroine’s from some of your favorite stories. On Friday, the hero. The questions are similar so it’s always a blast seeing how well characters really know one another.

Today I have over Darach MacRath from Faith V. Smith’s, IMMORTAL JUSTICE. If you have a thing for Highlanders, then Darach’s your kind of guy! As an added bonus, I’ve added snippets from his love, Abigail’s interview yesterday. That way you can compare. I do recommend, however, that you check out ABIGAIL’S INTERVIEW to read her full responses.

Before I begin Darach’s Interview here’s a bit more about IMMORTAL JUSTICE…

Over a millennium ago, Highlander Darach MacRath was murdered. Resurrected by the Archangel Michael to fight demons as an Immortal Executioner, Darach now opposes all evil in the mortal world. His life is solitary—but when he rescues a young woman who not only sees demons but battles them herself, he is captivated by her courage and beauty. Abigail Dupree is not looking for love. But when a tall, dark demon fighter with a sexy brogue intervenes in her hunt, she’s fascinated. She should run away—but then his gentle yet sizzling touch ensnares her heart. When a demon from Darach’s past sets his sights on Abby, Darach will do anything to protect her—but for Abby, losing him would be worse than death. Together they must fight the demons of past and present, and the possibility that evil could destroy them both, before they find the gift of love.

SKY: Tell us a little bit about you, Darach.

DARACH: I was born and died over a thousand years ago. Resurrected by the Arch Angel Michael, I ken nothing but fighting demons until I met Abby.

(Abigail’s response… I just have visions and can spot a demon when he hides inside a human body. Not looking for love at all.)

SKY: Remembering the moment you first laid eyes on Abigail what thoughts come to mind?

DARACH: That the lass was a wee bit touched in the head to be fighting demons. Then I felt a lust and admiration for her that would not go away. To this day, I still will fight to have her by my side, to make love to her, and keep her safe.

(Abigail’s response… I was fighting a demon and the Highlander showed up. Tall, dark, and eyes that went from cobalt to silver in two seconds flat. Darach MacRath thought he could wipe my mind clean of seeing him, but he couldn’t.)

SKY: She has one trait you adored from the start. What is it? Hands down, she appreciates one of your traits…what do you think that is?

DARACH: Her heart. `Tis made of gold, and I love her for it. I be not sure of what one trail she likes about me, but I hope it might be because I love her, and of course there be the intimacies of the bedroom.

(Abigail’s response… His absurd way of thinking he needs to protect me all the time. It’s ridiculous, although, sweet. Oh, and let’s not forget his way of making clothes disappear without moving a muscle. So handy! I think my darling Darach would consider my heart an attribute, although he thinks it gets me into way too much trouble.)

SKY: She has one trait you’d change if you could. What is it? You figure there’s probably a trait she might want to change about you… care to share?

DARACH: Abby’s infernal ability to not listen to me when I tell her things. She be stubborn as a rock. Wheesh, she would probably say my habit of telling her what to do.

(Abigail’s response… his stubbornness. He thinks that all he has to do is go for it, and nothing will happen to him. I fear for his life at times when he’s fighting demons. My trait he would change would be my inability to listen to him being bossy. I don’t like being told what to do.)

SKY: Ah, love is in the air. What is the single most romantic thing you’ve done for her?

DARACH: I dinnae think I’ve done enough, but she might tell ye about her grandparent’s rings.

(Abigail’s response… finding my grandparents rings that were pawned to send me to college back in the day and returning them to me. Also giving me roses and having this not sure if she’ll like them look on his face.)

SKY: She has a feature that draws your eye every time. Care to share? She can’t stare at you enough… but where is she staring? Now’s the time to gloat about your thick head of hair. *Sky sniggers* Truth! Do you think it’s your eyes? Chest? Etc.

DARACH: Her womanly body. She draws me to her like a flame to a candle. I think she would say me eyes, but I hope it be something also a bit more southern of my face.

(Abigail’s response… I love every part of the man, even his stubborn brain, but his eyes. They go from black to silver when he is emotional or sexually turned on. I love it. It’s like knowing a bit a head of time how he’s affected. I think he probably touches on my eyes, they remind him of a loch back in medieval Scotland, but then his hands go for other parts…lol.)

SKY: How do you think Abigail would answer the following… Our favorite thing to do together is…?

DARACH: Well, I ken what my favorite thing be, and I hope `tis Abby’s, but just sitting quietly at times, and enjoying being together and alive.

(Abigail’s response… Oh by far, making love, but he has romantic moments as well. He likes to walk places, and when I’m with him, he takes my hand, and tucks me close to his side.)

SKY: You and Abigail don’t see eye to eye on what issue?

DARACH: An argument that will probably be the death of me. I dinnae want her fighting demons.

(Abigail’s response… My penchant for knowing where demons are and wanting to help him fight them)

SKY: She said one thing to you that you’ll never forget. What was it?

DARACH: She said she loved me. I can think of nothing more memorable.

(Abigail’s response… I love you. What else is there?)

SKY: You and Abigail sounds like a perfect match! Thanks so much for joining us, Darach. Can’t wait to read IMMORTAL JUSTICE!

CHARACTER BLOWOUT. Abigail's Interview. Faith V. Smith's, IMMORTAL JUSTICE.

Welcome! You’ve arrived in time to enjoy A Writer’s Mind, End of Week Character Blowout. New to this blog? If so, here’s the scoop. The Character Blowout is much like The Newlywed Game blog style! On Thursday I interview the heroine from some of your favorite stories. On Friday, the hero. The questions asked of each are similar so it’s always fun to see how well they know one another.

Today it’s my pleasure to welcome over Abigail Dupree from Faith V. Smith, IMMORTAL JUSTICE. Before I get started with the interview let’s learn a bit more about this novel…

SKY: Tell us a little bit about you.

ABIGAIL: I’m nothing special. I just have visions and can spot a demon when he hides inside a human body. Not looking for love at all.

SKY: Remembering the moment you first laid eyes on Darach, what thoughts come to mind?

ABIGAIL: Oh yes, I remember. I was fighting a demon and the Highlander showed up. Tall, dark, and eyes that went from cobalt to silver in two seconds flat. Darach MacRath thought he could wipe my mind clean of seeing him, but he couldn’t.

CHARACTER BLOWOUT. Day Two. Ashlynn Monroe's, Vampire Gabriel Interview. Chance to win!!!

It’s DAY TWO of A Writer’s Mind, CHARACTER BLOWOUT!

What does that mean? Pretty simple. You’ve arrived here in the nick of time. How so? Well, you get to meet a vampire today. His name is Gabriel Leleux and he’s jumped out of Ashlynn Monroe’s latest tale, PRAY FOR ME, to spend some time with us and allow me to grill him with a few questions.

So why would Gabriel allow this? Well, he’s participating in, A Writer’s Mind Character Blowout and that means he’s subjected himself to what I like to call, 'The Newlywed Game’ done blog style. Gabriel knows that I interviewed his love, Harley yesterday and was willing to pop in today to answer similar questions. You’ll notice as you read that I added snippets from Harley’s responses yesterday so that you could enjoy comparing. I highly recommend that you check out HARLEY'S INTERVIEW afterward to really ‘hear’ her voice.

There’s a contest being held! Ashlynn Monroe would like to offer one random lucky commenter that comments on both interviews a copy of PRAY FOR ME.

Let’s learn a bit more about PRAY FOR ME…

Gabriel put his faith in his God and his king…That was centuries ago. Harley is proud of her heritage and when she has the chance to give her hometown historical society a boost by booking an eccentric Swiss expert, she has no idea she booked someone who actually lived the history. Immortality is a long time to have a broken heart. Unable to stop himself, Gabriel draws the brilliant historian into his life. Harley discovers far more than Gabriel ever expected about history, his history! A quest to give Gabriel an answer to an old question will introduce them to the danger of a new enemy. Is love enough when your love wants you body, soul and blood?

So are you ready to ‘meet’ Gabriel Leleux? I know I am. Here we go…

SKY: Gabriel, tell us a little bit about you.

GABRIEL: Thank you for this opportunity Sky. I was born in France during the eleventh century. My brother and I joined the order of the Templar Knights before the order was disbanded. We were in hiding until the Grand Master was burned at the stake. That was the night I died, reborn as a vampire.

(Harley’s response… I’m a huge history buff. I love my job, with the state of Wisconsin preserving historical sights. I’m divorced, no brothers and sister, but my parents are great. I’m just a quiet average girl.)

SKY: Remembering the moment you first laid eyes on Harley, what thoughts come to mind?

GABRIEL: I wasn’t expecting such a delicious little mortal. I assumed she’d be a bit…frumpy.

(Harley’s response… OH-MY-GOD Gabriel is the hottest guy on Earth and I was expecting some old guy. Instead this sexy young mouth-watering piece of eye candy is standing there)

SKY: Harley has one trait you adored from the start. What is it? Hands down, she appreciates one of your traits…what do you think that is?

GABRIEL: How that brilliant mind could go from serious to sexual in a heartbeat. Mmm, good question Sky, she’d probably say my mind, but I know it’s my body.

(Harley’s response… , his brain. He might be delicious and buff, but I love a guy who can think. Umm, I think I’m blushing but I’m going to say my curves. He’s a bit old fashioned in what he sees as hot.)

SKY: *Grins* I enjoy your… modesty, Gabriel. *snickers* Harley has one trait you’d change if you could. What is it? You figure there’s probably a trait she might want to change about you… care to share?

GABRIEL: Oh, I’m going to be in the doghouse, but that little imp can snore to wake the dead. I’m sure she’d say my oldfashioned alpha male ‘tude.

(Harley’s response… Ha, he’s going to kill me but I’d love to change how cold his feet get in bed, even under the covers. I’m perfect, and he’d totally agree.)

SKY: Snore! *chuckles* But love is in the air. What is the single most romantic thing you’ve done for her?

GABRIEL: I died for her.

(Harley’s response… He died for me.)

SKY: Harley has a feature that draws your eye every time. Care to share? She can’t stare at you enough… but where is she staring? Now’s the time to gloat about your thick head of hair. *Sky sniggers* Truth! Do you think it’s your eyes? Chest? Etc.

GABRIEL: Her round backside, oh lord I can’t stop looking at it. She’s such an innocent thing, but she’s always feeling these biceps, I’m guessing that’s what she’d say.

(Harley’s response… The man has the most soulful eyes.)

SKY: How do you think Harley would answer the following… Our favorite thing to do together is…?

GABRIEL: We’re a bit square, I’d say our weekly trip to the museum.

(Harley’s response… I’d say hangin’ in the library)

SKY: You and Harley don’t see eye to eye on what issue?

GABRIEL: **snickers**Her mother!

(Harley’s response… Who’s really to blame for the French Revolution.)

SKY: Harley said one thing to you that you’ll never forget. What was it?

GABRIEL: Gabriel, I’m yours, always.

(Harley’s response… “Thank you for enjoying my first sunrise in centuries with me. I love you Harley.”)

SKY: Gabriel, I can’t tell you how fantastic it was having you visit, A Writer’s Mind. You and Harley are a great match! Thanks so much for stopping by. I look forward to reading, PRAY FOR ME.
