From Jennifer’s lips to my blog…

Hi everyone! I’m so glad to be here today. Thanks for having me, Sky.

To me Christmas lights are magical. There is something about the twinkle that immediately transports me back in time. I get the same oooh, aaaah feeling I used to when my mom finished decorating and plugged in the lights. Growing up in the South, we usually didn’t get a white Christmas, but Mom would spray the fake stuff on the windows and the branches and garland. Then she’d drape the silver icicles all over the tree. By the time she was done, it felt like a winter wonderland. I’d lay beside the tree in the dark and let the twinkling lights mesmerize me.

Even as a kid, no matter what else was going on, there was something so calming and enchanting about watching those lights dance in the dark. It’s a feeling I still get – no matter how chaotic the day might have been. I always put trees in several rooms of our house, and I love nothing more than sitting in the dark, watching the lights. I can almost feel the bite of the cold air, the sharp smell of pine. My imagination soars, just like when I was a kid. Maybe it’s my mom’s love I feel when I see the lights, or maybe it’s Christmas magic. Maybe it’s both. But to me, the greatest Christmas joy I get is in a dark room, with a hot drink, wrapped in the warmth of memories, imagination and possibilities.

What is your favorite Christmas memory?

Early in December, I’ll be releasing a FREE Read. Check my website for more info. I’m also working on another Western Historical, Alaskan Heat, which should be ready in Spring 2012.

I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday season. Best Wishes and Happy Reading

Sky here. What a wonderful holiday memory, Jennifer. I really connected with this post. I love the magic of Christmas as well and as a child often laid on the floor staring in wonder at the twinkling lights on the tree. I thought I was the only one! Wishing you and yours a wonderful and magical holiday season.

Let’s take a moment to learn more about Jennifer’s latest release, TWICE IN A LIFETIME…

Be Careful What You Wish For. . .

No-nonsense stuntwoman Isabella Douglas will do anything to stop an unwanted divorce and reclaim the happy life she had, even allow her old friend to concoct a magical spell to turn back time. But when the spell goes awry, Izzy finds herself trapped aboard a 1768 Caribbean pirate ship with a captain who’s a dead ringer for her sexy as sin husband, Ian. Convinced he’s playing a cruel joke, she’s furious – until she realizes he doesn’t know her or believe they’re married.

Captain Ian Douglas does not have time to deal with an insane woman who claims to be his wife; he has to save his kidnapped sister. But as Izzy haunts his dreams and fills him with erotic memories he can’t explain, he’s forced to admit he feels more than lust.

Trapped in a vicious cycle of past mirroring present, Izzy knows they only have days to find Ian’s sister and prevent disaster from striking a second time. If she doesn’t, their marriage will be destroyed again – along with the man she loves.

Hi Sky!
Thanks so much for letting me be part of your celebration.

Glad you liked the post. Maybe there is something about being a future writer that made us lie beneath the Christmas lights day dreaming. :)

Happy holidays everyone!

Hi Sky and Jennifer -

Another twinkling light lover here. Even now, I love to switch off all the main lights and just sit in the dark and gaze at the lights on the tree, and the fairy lights round the window. The magic never dies!

Lovely post, Jennifer. Brought back memories of my childhood in Iowa - where is WAS cold and mostly likely snowy on Christmas morning. With the hustle and bustle of today's holiday season, it's nice watch the twinkling lights and remember what we're really celebrating.

Great post, Sky and Jennifer. I love the sparkle of lights at Christmas. Living in Texas the chance of snow is slim, but we wrap the house and porch with lights and a snow man to welcome visitors.

Hi ladies,
I love the premise of Twice In A Lifetime, and I too am bedazzled by the lights of Christmas. Every year I groan at the prospect of setting up the tree, then marvel at how much I enjoy using that tree as my only light night after night. I always miss the mystical glow once it is packed back away for another year. I would just string some around the house and be done with it, but that would spoil the magic of rediscovering Christmas every year.

Hi Hywela -
I know! It's just magical and I'm so glad that it's something that brings back that feeling of wonderment - if only for a short season.
Thanks for stopping by today:)

Hi Mac-
I'm always sad in Jan when I take down the lights too. I've left mine up until the middle of Jan before just to squeeze a little more enjoyment from them!
Thanks for stopping by today:)

Great post! Every year we go to a park that has lots and lots of lights. I make my hubby go every year even though he says it is boring now. Not to me

I'm a huge fan of Christmas lights too and remember piling into the truck to drive through town looking at everyone's holiday displays. I love plain white lights and how relaxing they are. They truly warm me up when lit.

Thanks for being here and I'm absolutely loving this event!

Hi Debby -
Yes, there's a huge campground that does that kind of light display from Thanksgiving thru the New Year here. It's just beautiful. I love to bundle up and stick my head through the sun-roof as we drive (slowly) along.
Thanks for stopping by!

Oh, I think the lights are my favorite part of Christmas too. Every year around the holidays, we take out children driving and go to the different neighborhoods to see the lights.

Memories of Christmas is seeing all the lights everywhere. If it's not too cold, we pick a night and take the little ones to see all the decorated houses, makes for some nice memories for sure!

From one Southerner to another, we never had the snow but always the lights! I still love to drive around at night looking at yards all lit up.

Sorry I'm late to the party but I loved your christmas lights memory - actually, you described what I did last night! I sat in the dark with the glow from the lights shining, hot cup of tea in hand and just relaxed. don't remember the last time I sat and did nothing! Wishing you many sales now and in the future, Jenn!
