Modern-day woman. Medieval Highlander. Steamy battle-of-wills adventure.

Waving hello! I hope you and yours are staying safe during these trying times.

I'm thrilled to announce A Scot's Resolve, the latest in my ongoing End of an Era series, is now available. This one was super-fun to write and kept me smiling. I hope it does you too.

About the Book

From enemies to lovers, a modern-day woman comes together with a medieval Highlander in a super-steamy battle-of-wills adventure.

Plagued by dreams of an ancient Irish Stonehenge, Madison not only ends up with a mystical Claddagh ring but finds herself connected to a Highland scoundrel from another century. One she refuses to be destined for. He might set her heart afire, but he also makes her blood boil.

Eager to confront the meddlesome lass haunting his thoughts, Cray MacLeod travels to the twenty-first century only to discover his cousin, Ethyn already there pursuing Madison. He won't be the only one, though. The moment Cray lays eyes on her, he wants her too. She may not be his destined Broun, but he'll make her his regardless.

Once again, Cray finds himself competing with kin for the lass he desires. At least until a mysterious Stonehenge dredges up his painful past, and only Madison can help him face things he would rather forget. Things that draw them closer to daunting secrets they never saw coming.

Will Madison and Cray be driven apart by what they discover? Or will the heartbreak of their pasts be the key to their future? Find out as the quest to keep Scotland's King David II safe from Edward Balliol and his 'disinherited' nobles continues in A Scot's Resolve.

Teaser

If nothing else could be said about her first encounter with Cray MacLeod, it was that he was absolutely right. She did rue the day she kept him away from one woman, let alone twelve. Now the devil had come to claim his due, and she had never been so terrified.

Or aroused.

She had developed an image in her mind of what he might look like, and it was nothing like the Adonis in front of her. He was supposed to be loathsome and beady-eyed cackling with crazed lust not designed to satisfy every woman’s best erotic dream. If possible, he was even taller than Ethyn and built like a linebacker with broad shoulders. Dirty-blonde hair framed a chiseled face complete with a cleft in his chin.

Then there were his striking, almost unsettling eyes.

What color were they? Light brown? Gold? Technically, they were brown because gold wasn’t a pigmentation. But she swore pale gold cut through the light brown like angry lightning. The shade suited him, only adding to his fierce, almost wild disposition.

“You really are a beast, aren’t you?” she whispered, stunned, already caught like a fly in his trap. A spider in his web. A bird in his cage. Caught in a way she loathed but craved all at once. He had just pulled her up from the ground but hadn’t let go.

“I am dragon,” he said, his alarmingly soft tone so full of sensual promise she knew she was in trouble.

While Ethyn looked at her one way, Cray looked at her another way entirely. Not with flattering desire but dangerous promise. There was nothing dashing or romantic about his intentions for her. No, he was set to have his ‘payback’ and see her make up for all he felt lost to him. All the women denied him.

At the time, she thought he was simply full of himself, which he truly was, and that women wouldn’t fall into his bed so easily, but she was mistaken. Sour mood and all, she imagined just about any woman he pursued would be there in a heartbeat.

So said the telling ache between her own two thighs.

When he inhaled deeply, and his pupils flared with approval, she knew he could smell her. That he was, as he claimed, very much something other than fully human. For a split second, like sunlight flickering through the trees on the highway, she swore red hazed her vision, but it must have been her imagination.

“Nay, ‘tis not your imagination, lass,” he murmured, his eyes searching hers. The moment seemed suspended in time. Crossing all barriers. Spanning some unknown distance.  “But I think you know that. Or at least you once did.”

She blinked against memories that threatened to surface and shook her head. “No.” Finding more gumption than she knew she had, she yanked her wrist free and stepped away. “I’m not a dragon.”

“You are,” he countered, unwilling to let this go. But then she already knew how stubborn he could be.

“I’m not.”

“You are.”

“No.”

“Aye.”

“Och, enough,” Ethyn intercepted. He frowned between them before he looked down the drive. “What was that all about, Madison? Where did your friends go?” Baffled, he shook his head and looked at her. “’Tis one thing that they got by Cray, but how did I not see them walk to the car when ‘twas right in front of me?”

“I have no idea.” Having felt her cell phone vibrate with an incoming text a few minutes ago, she pulled it out and frowned. “Apparently, Destiny cut her hand on a bottle opener, and Alyssa’s driving her to a doctor.” She narrowed her eyes down the drive and shook her head. “Something’s definitely not right about that.”

“Nay,” Ethyn agreed.

She dialed Destiny’s phone then Alyssa’s. Neither answered.

“I’m starting to think there’s a whole lot more to Destiny than meets the eye,” she murmured, shooting off texts to them both.

When the men looked at her in question, she headed inside to dry off and explained.

“So she suffers a wee bit o’ premonition from time to time,” Cray said after she finished. “She is a witch, after all, whether or not she knows it yet.”

He hadn’t stopped looking at her once. His steady gaze followed her as she poured whisky for everyone, counting the glasses out of habit as she went. It was as if he tracked her, like a predator with his prey, watching her every motion. Sizing up how she moved. How fast she might dart away. Which was unnecessary considering how clumsy she could be, seen clearly in her fiasco outside.

Better to focus on Ethyn, who she had claimed was hers when faced with Cray as the alternative. Not to say she wouldn’t mind being with Ethyn. Just seeing him smile made her want to smile in return, which said something. Men rarely invoked such a response. Case in point, far too intense undressing-her-with-his-eyes-Cray certainly didn't.

“Nay,” he rumbled, again making himself at home in her mind. “But then I'm not here to make you smile.” The corner of his mouth curled up ever-so-slightly, his sensual warning crystal clear. “I'm here to put another look entirely on your face.”

Set to annihilate his nemesis before he wreaks havoc and claims Sage as his own, Viking Håkon Sigdir pursues Leif. Until Sage is taken by Magnus of the Årud tribe. It then becomes a race to see who can save her first from the enemy's rogue ally. A race that turns into a battle of wills as their rivalry for Sage intensifies.

Sparks fly as an age-old vendetta ignites a love triangle that threatens not just the fate of Håkon's people but his very heart.

Will Sage ultimately choose him or Leif? Will she see past the dark enchantment affiliated with her ancestor's prophecy and realize who is destined for her? Better yet, will she see clearly the evil imposter? Because if she falls for Leif's mock heroism rather than Håkon's genuine valor, the war will be lost.

If that happens, she might lose not just her independence but a matchmaking gift that brings people together. Though at odds with the twenty-first century beauty from the moment he meets her, Viking Davyn Sigdir steals Shea away to keep her safe from multiple enemies set on making her theirs. Unfortunately, he underestimates how alluring she can be when it suits her. How feisty and headstrong she is as she tries to outwit him at every turn.Yet the fiery strife between them only draws them closer, and soon their unwanted attraction becomes hard to resist.

Determined to control their own fate, they devise a bold plan to trick their adversaries. One that could keep Shea's matchmaking gift intact plus end the prophecy and ongoing war. All they have to do is agree to be separated forever. Are they willing to pay such a steep price for the greater good? Or will it be too hard to say goodbye in the end? Find out as a passionate high-stakes war of hearts ensues in Viking's Intent.

VIKING’S RANSOM- Kenzie is determined to be there for her sisters no matter what it takes. Even if it means giving herself over to her fated mate, Viking Eirik Sidgir. When she ends up traveling through time to tenth century Scandinavia, she's ready for whatever comes her way. Until a chance encounter with Hel, the Goddess of Helheim, who has long loved Eirik.

Having recognized Kenzie from the moment he saw her picture in the twenty-first century, Eirik realizes the time has finally come. A secret close to the heart is about to be revealed, and the stunning red-head is the only person capable of protecting what matters most to him.

Unfortunately, Hel has already stolen Kenzie away. Now he needs to convince the goddess to give him back his bargaining chip because of a little known prophecy. One that foretells he must offer up the woman he loves as ransom to get back what has been taken from him.

VIKING’S CONQUEST- Tormented by her past, Tess hits the open road, and never looks back. Not until Fate forces her through time to medieval Scandinavia where an age-old prophecy opens old wounds. Unable to escape them, she has no choice but to navigate raw, heart-wrenching memories if she hopes to mate and defeat the enemy.

Though determined to end his rival without taking a mate, Viking Rokar Sigdir realizes that might be impossible when Tess joins him on his quest and awakens feelings he thought long dormant. Yet with passion and a chance to start anew comes dark flashbacks of losing his kin and the unimaginable pain it caused. A misery he fears repeating.

Will Rokar and Tess be able to let their pasts go so they can end their nemesis and share a future? Or are some things just too hard to overcome? Find out as they journey through time and turbulent memories on a fast-paced, otherworldly adventure that becomes not just a conquest of their enemy but of their grief-stricken souls.

VIKING’S CRUSADE- Determined to help her sisters navigate an unraveling prophecy, Ava sets aside the sins of her past and heads to Winter Harbor only to discover she and her fated mate are the key to everything. Soren led her into a cozy nook beneath a pine with a moss covered trunk. The intimate area had a cave of sorts carved into a monstrous rock on one side. Pine branches hung to the ground on the other. Like all places in the Realm, soft verdant grass grew where it shouldn’t. Not that she was complaining as she sat and looked up.
“I used to enjoy sitting beneath the trees at my home in Lake Placid,” she mentioned, steering the conversation away from intimacy. “Then I went off to college and never got around to sitting under one again.”
He lit a fire and sat beside her. “It is peaceful, yes?”
“It really is,” she murmured. “Funny, maybe a small part of me was trying to bring that sense of peace to the rest of the world.”
“By the sounds of it, you did.”
“Here and there.” Not when it mattered most, though.
“I would like to it see someday,” he said softly. “Your life…what you accomplished.”
“You mean, look through my mind’s eye.” She tensed at the thought. It was one thing catching her thoughts, but to let him all the way in would mean him seeing first-hand the atrocities she had caused. “Maybe eventually.”
“When you are ready,” he agreed. “Though it might happen against your will as it has for some of our kin.”
“I know.” She met his eyes. “I guess I just want to put it off for as long as possible.” She shook her head, realizing it was for more reasons than one. “Not just for me but for you.”
“You are afraid of the way I will look at you. That it will damage the way my dragon looks at yours, the connection they are so desperate for.” He shook his head. “But it will not, Ava. It cannot.”
“You don’t know that.”
“I do, though. As I said before, my dragon can only lend yours comfort and protect it,” he said softly. “Letting me and my dragon in will not push us away but pull us closer. It will allow us to soak up some of your pain…to help you find self-forgiveness.”
“How can you know that when you’ve never had a mate?”
“Because I have had a mate.” He brushed the back of his knuckles along her jaw. “You.” He searched her eyes. “Surely, you feel the growing connection. The intense bond.”
“You know I do,” she whispered because she couldn’t quite find her voice. “Only our growing connection isn’t giving me a sense of confidence. Instead, I feel like I’m drawing closer to unbearable pain.” While she meant to keep it to herself, her inner dragon prompted her tongue along. “I keep getting this nagging feeling I’m going to lose you now that I’ve found you.”
“You cannot let that stand in your way,” he said gently. “Instead, you have to trust it, allow the connection. In that, you will find peace.”
“How do you know?”
“Because I already feel it.” His fingers trailed down the side of her neck, causing a fresh spike of heat. “While yes, there is great risk, there is also certainty that this is eternal. That the connection we made on Múspellsheimr is ours for all time.” He tilted her chin until their eyes were aligned. “Our dragons will always find their way back to each other, Ava. So even if you lose me in this life, there will be another. I will return to you.”
He certainly had a way with words, didn’t he? But they were true words said from his heart. She could see it in his eyes. Sense it in his soul. More than that, she could feel it in his tender touch.

“I need to go to Sven.” She worked to remain strong and level, rather than let emotions get the better of her. “How is he?”

“As to be expected,” Samantha replied.

She knew full well what ‘as to be expected’ meant when it came to Sven. He was somewhere alone whittling wood deep in thought, not sharing a darn thing with anyone. So imagine her surprise when they arrived, and she heard him roaring orders.

“Loki’s hell,” she muttered before she sprinted through the village in his direction. She ran past cottages with their long sloping roofs and a medieval society that had long been her own. Though many murmured hello, there was no missing the somber feel of the place.

Determined to at least stop Sven’s ranting, she rushed in the front door of the main lodge and stopped short. Though she had intended to race into his arms and hug him like she had always done, she did nothing of the sort.

No, she just stared at him.

Dressed in black pants, heavy boots, and a black leather jerkin, he raked a hand through his ebony hair as he paced. Though he had always been extraordinarily handsome, he was more so now. Was he always so tall and broad? Did he always carry himself with such confidence? His features had always been striking, but even they seemed to have changed. Matured somehow into a face that made her breath catch and her heart skip a beat.

His turbulent cobalt blue eyes turned her way. “Emily.”

That was it. That was all he said in a voice deeper than she recalled. But it was all she needed to snap out of her reverie and fly into his arms despite the annoying and very sudden shyness she felt. He didn’t say anything just wrapped her up in his arms like he had always done. Yet, not surprisingly, even that felt different. More encompassing.

That’s when she realized she was home.

It wasn’t the village or even the people but him. She pressed her cheek against his chest and inhaled deeply. She had missed his scent. Spruce, and woodland. Him. Sven. Her best friend.

“You are here,” he finally murmured, clearly relieved as he cupped her cheeks then brushed his lips across her forehead, just like he had always done. His eyes met hers. “I was worried about you.”

“Me too…I was worried…” She pressed her lips together, rallying her strength when she wanted to sob in relief. Now wasn’t the time for that. Like Samantha said, he needed her to be strong. That’s how they worked. If she was faltering, he was strong for her and vice versa. That was their thing.
