It’s
that time! The second book in The MacLomain Series: Irish Roots has arrived. I
loved writing Declán and Riona’s story, A
Celtic Secret. Lots of romance, intrigue, and action!
About the Book
What happens when you fall for not one enemy but two?
Riona has long known she’s destined to help a medieval Irish king save his country. What she does not anticipate is being torn between two enemy kings. Moreover, that when she travels back in time, she will end up in the rival Kingdom of Munster, at the whims of both men. Warrior kings determined to make her theirs even if it means sharing.
King Declán of Leinster has but one goal. Not to share Riona but to discover the secret she keeps from him so he can figure out his next step. Or so he thinks until she joins him on enemy land and chooses to stay rather than flee. Until he realizes her adventuresome, curious nature will land her in the last position she expects. Queen of Munster and enemy to her sisters.
Determined to free her from a prison of her own making, Declán steals her away, only for them to wind up on a magical journey born of a secret he never saw coming. One fraught with not just forbidden passion but a prophecy that seems impossible to fulfill. Worse still, a wicked love triangle that cannot be avoided. One that could very well mean war and Ireland’s ruin.
“RUN,” HE ROARED. “Come to me before ‘tis
too late!”
As always, she wore a long blue dress and
ran into a dimly lit forest before a large set of castle doors appeared. Beckoned
her. Called to her every bit as much as the man without a face. The stranger
who had haunted her day after day. Year after year. Sometimes she loved him.
Sometimes she hated him.
But she always needed to get to him.
The door.
What lay beyond.
She reached for one of the large handles.
Tried to wrap her hand around it but somehow never got close enough. No matter
how hard she tried, the door seemed further and further away.
Until it didn’t.
A warm glowing light sparked to life
inside, and she, at long last, clasped the cool handle and opened the door only
to stop short. She didn’t stand at the threshold of a castle but at the edge of
a cliff, looking down on a cave entrance. Her heart lurched into her throat at
the dizzying drop.
The warm light faded.
Darkness fell.
“Hurry.” His voice sounded so sinister now
it sent chills down her spine. “Come outside now!”
However frightened, she felt compelled to
listen.
Go to him.
Be with him.
So she stepped over the edge of the cliff only to jolt awake when someone yanked her back.
