Well, I've been amongst the missing lately I'm afraid. When you have a toddler, free time becomes a precious commodity. We're expecting a wee bit o' rain up here in the northeast tomorrow, they say around 3 inches and high winds. But, if you've ever watched the movie, The Perfect Storm and live in this corridor of the world, you would know that the forecast changes constantly. For now, we're buckling down the hatches and turning on the sub-pump. Could be we'll wake up to a bright blue sky (no offense to the weather forecasters, New England's just a tough place to predict)
I did have a thought to share and though I'd like to say it's for my fellow authors, it could also apply to my readers. Because I'm a mom and aye, in on a Friday night, I watched an autobiography on Grace Kelly. Yes, I'm guilty of being a fan of the old school actors and quite frankly, love to learn about people and places. I didn't know much about her, save she was well known in her era, right up there with top guru's of her age. It took many years for her father to approve of her because in that day and age acting was taboo, a waste of a precious mind. But her father came around, years after she won the academy awards and in the end she married a prince!
Why do I talk of Grace Kelly now? Because she strikes me as someone that never gave up despite the odds. For her, perhaps, it was to prove to her father she could be someone he could be proud of. Aren't we all like that? Eager to prove to a friend, relative or spouse that we can accomplish what we say we can, what we've always dreamed of doing? Perhaps. I would imagine if I could chat with Grace Kelly right now she'd tell me to follow my dreams, not worry about the opinions of others and never give up, what do you think? I'm lucky enough to have a supportive network of friends, fans and family, but for the little doubts that nag me, that nag you, don't let them get to you, write, read, do what you do best and never let the voices of others become the voice you follow!
